Did you know that Franklin Martial Arts generates its own electric power? That's right! Our school made the investment of installing solar panels about a year ago, and we have not paid an electric bill in a long time. They are hardly noticeable from below, but if you could look on top of our roof, you would see their shininess.
We produce all the electricity we need, and then some. So next time you find yourself enjoying our well lit training floors, or if you notice a plug-in heater in the waiting area to keep the parents comfy, remember that it's all clean energy.
This means Franklin Martial Arts is offsetting our environmental footprint, and by supporting clean energy businesses like us, you are contributing to a cleaner environment too. Just this year alone we have generated 18,953 Kilowatts of electricity. But what does that mean exactly? The comparisons below can help you put this amount of electricity into context.
Reduction of environmental footprint to date [as of 12/14/2014]:

For the solar-technically-savvy, our roof holds 80 panels, or 80 x ET SOLAR P660 250 modules. That means our system is designed to generate about 20 kWh [kilowatt-hours] of electricity per year. The carbon footprint offset listed above can be expected every single year.
The Franklin Martial Arts staff is very proud of these facts, and we are glad to be local pioneers in the Bellingham, Franklin, Milford area as far as clean energy businesses go. Our staff wonders if we could be the very first martial arts school in Massachusetts to be completely self sufficient in clean electricity. We bet we are.
